Welcome Nurse Lucy
We are so excited to announce the arrival of Nurse Lucy! Talented, warm and a great sense of humour - your going to love her as much as we do!
Lucy, born in England, has been a Registered Nurse since 2001, after qualifying from Plymouth University, England. A love of travel, and the ocean, saw Lucy pursue her nursing career in Australia in 2002 where she worked at Manly hospital on Sydneys northern beaches. Followed by some time in Melbourne after finally calling Newcastle 'home' in 2015. Lucy is a fun loving wife and mother to 3 gorgeous girls and a fur baby - Billie the Cavoodle! She loves good food, good wine and lazy days at the beach with family and friends.
Venturing in to cosmetic injectables, Nurse Lucy started her specialised training early 2021 and has practising in the industry ever since. Her desire to help clients feel confident and empowered in their own skin drives Lucy to educate her clients, whilst personalising treatment plans to achieve natural aesthetic outcomes. Her attention to detail, and aesthetic eye results in clients feeling the best version of themselves.
Profile balancing facial aesthetics refers to the process of improving the overall balance and symmetry of an individual's facial features from a side view. The aim of profile balancing is to create a more harmonious and aesthetically pleasing profile, taking into consideration the proportions and symmetry of the face.
Tweaking our natural beauty to enhance, soften or create balance can involve many different treatment options. These options will vary greatly person to person, but may include:
Dermal filler to areas such as the cheeks, lips, jawline and temples for contouring, adding volume and enhancing shape
PDO Threads to improve skin laxity and define features
Lifting Threads to tighten and lift areas such as the jowls, resulting in a more defined youthful shape
Anti-wrinkle to soften fine lines in areas such as the frown, forehead and crows feet
Let's run through some common assessment tools used when considering beauty from an aesthetic perspective, remembering that whilst these tools are widely used, and serve as a great starting point for assessing beauty, there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to aesthetics. Beauty is ultimately in the eye of the beholder, and treatment options are tailored to an individual and their personal aesthetic goals. And remember, a FREE consultation with one of our Registered Nurses is always a great idea!
The Ricketts line is a facial assessment tool used to evaluate the balance and proportions of the face. It was developed by Dr. Robert Ricketts, an orthodontist and pioneer in the field of facial orthopaedics. The Ricketts line is a reference line that runs through the center of the face, from the midpoint of the forehead to the tip of the chin. It is used as a standard to measure the position and size of various facial features in relation to each other. This reference point is useful when considering dermal filler for both the lips and chin.
The Ogee Curve
The Ogee Curve is the double soft-S curves that are seen from an oblique angle, or a 3/4 view, on the youthful face. The curves start from the lateral brow continuing to the place where the upper and lower eyelids meet. The curve continues outwards on the upper cheek and inward above the mouth, making the cheeks look volumised and hollow at the same time. Assessing the Ogee Curve can be useful when balancing the cheeks, lips, nose and jaw line with treatments such as dermal filler and threads.
The Golden Ratio
The Golden Ratio refers to a number that appears when you divide the width of your face by the length. The golden ration is a proportion of 1.618. You can take this measurement yourself by measuring the distance from the top of your nose to the centre of your lips. Finally, compare it to the distance of the centre of the lips to the chin, and if the result is 1.618 times the distance between the nose and lips, it is referred to as a balanced face. Consideration of the golden ration is particularly beneficial with discussing the use of dermal filler for lips.
