Why You Won’t See the Term ‘Cosmetic Injections’ on Our Website Anymore

Why You Won’t See the Term ‘Cosmetic Injections’ on Our Website Anymore

May 2026

If you have been a patient of ours at Nouvelle Cosmetics for a while, or if you are currently researching aesthetic treatments in Australia, you may have noticed a significant change in how we and other clinics talk about and advertise our cosmetic injectable services. Specifically, terms like cosmetic injectables and price guides are disappearing from digital platforms making information less accessible. We have also removed our before and after images making it hard to display our skills as Cosmetic Injectors. At Nouvelle Cosmetics, we pride ourselves on transparency, but we also adhere to the

strict guidelines we are governed by within our industry. We understand that these changes might be challenging for patients looking for and planning specific treatments. Below, we explain the recent regulatory shifts and what they mean for your next visit to our Newcastle, Cessnock, Tamworth, or Tea Gardens locations.

The TGA and Advertising Guidelines Impacting Cosmetic Injectors

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) is Australia’s regulatory body for health related products. Recently, the TGA updated its guidance regarding how medicines, including those that are prescription-only, are communicated to the public.

In Australia, the substances used in our cosmetic injectable treatments are classified as Schedule 4 (S4) prescription-only medicines. Under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989, it is actually illegal to advertise prescription-only medicines in any direct or indirect way to our patients.

Previously, the industry used generic terms such as cosmetic injections, dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments to describe services without naming specific brands. However, the TGA has now clarified that even these generic terms are considered a form of advertising for prescription-only medicines. Before and after photos are also considered an indirect way of advertising these medicines. To ensure total compliance and uphold the highest medical standards, Nouvelle Cosmetics has removed these references and pricing from our website and social media platforms.

What This Means for Patients Seeking Cosmetic Injectable Services

While the language on our website has changed, our commitment to YOUR Journey remains the same. Here is how these regulations affect you:

1. Focus on Consultations, Not Products

The TGA’s primary goal is to ensure that medical decisions are made in a clinical setting, not based on an advertisement. Because every face is unique, a one-size-fits-all approach to cosmetic injectable treatments is never suitable or appropriate. Our focus has always been on the in clinic consultation itself. During your consultation using the Observ skin analysis device, our experienced Registered Nurses perform a comprehensive skin and facial assessment to determine which cosmetic medical or skin-based treatment is going to target your concerns and give you the best outcome.

2. Promoting Safety and Expertise

By moving away from terms like cosmetic , the industry is refocusing on the expertise of the practitioner rather than the product itself. At Nouvelle Cosmetics, we prioritise safety and efficacy, ensuring holistic outcomes with our multi modality approach. Our team has decades of experience navigating skin, laser & cosmetic medical treatments, ensuring you are in the safe hands of our team.

3. Education Over Marketing

You may notice that we now use more descriptive language regarding the concerns we treat such as fine lines, volume loss though ageing, or skin texture, rather than the specific medical tools used to treat them. This allows us to provide educational content that helps you understand your skin without breaching Australian law.

Finding the Right Treatment for You

If you arrived here searching for cosmetic injections in Newcastle or the Hunter region, don't be deterred by the change in terminology. We still offer a full suite of advanced cosmetic services designed to help you look and feel your best - from evidence based skincare, advanced skin and cosmetic medical treatments.

The best way to understand your options is to book an initial consultation that we call a ‘YOUR Journey Consultation’. During this appointment, we can legally and thoroughly discuss all available cosmetic medical treatment options and costs, including those previously referred to as cosmetic injectables, and create a plan tailored to your own concerns. This is a complimentary consultation giving you the option to gather information and be given pricing, without going ahead with a treatment.

How to make your next Booking

If you’re a new patient to Nouvelle Cosmetics, you can either book a complimentary consultation - Your Journey - or book for a treatment on the day of your appointment. These appointments can be made by either calling our clinic on 0488 999 968 during business hours or by booking online via our website. There is a designated section called ‘New Cosmetic Medical Patients to Nouvelle’ where you can make your booking.

If you are an existing patient wanting to rebook for a Cosmetic Medical treatment - such as anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers - head to our online booking section called ‘Existing Cosmetic Medical Patients’ to choose your appointment. Anti-wrinkle injections are a quick and easy appointment and only require a 15 minute appointment, whilst treatments with dermal fillers or biostimulators may need a longer 30-45 minute appointment. If you’re unsure, choose a longer appointment time.

Our Commitment to Excellence

Nouvelle Cosmetics remains a multi-award-winning clinic dedicated to the highest standards of care. We welcome these TGA changes as a step toward a more professional, safe, and transparent aesthetic industry in Australia.
